Or at least they will win (by another 9-0 forfeit score) , completing a series sweep, once the needed investigation into the MitchellGate leaks leads to Mitchell's resignation in disgrace, the disqualification of the Red Sox, and the forfeits of all Red Sox postseason games.
We know it will happen.
Because we believe in America.
Congratulations, Rockies! Pop open a cold Coors Light! Know that while the rest of the world thinks you got your asses kicked, you will, in fact, be the ones getting those World Series winners' rings.

When I interviewed Paul Byrd about his use of human growth hormone, he had a question of his own for me.
"Isn't George Mitchell with the Red Sox?"
Yes, I replied, he is.
Yes, Paul, he certainly is. Paul Byrd knew what was going on. Despite the anguish of having a series taken away from his team (and heroically battling through his pituitary problems), he saw everything clearly.

Other teams have players surface amid the Balco case and steroid raids, in the pages of tell-alls or inside doping investigations. Other teams fret over findings.
Not the Red Sox. All is free and clear.
... (George) Mitchell is, after all, not just part of the giddy Red Sox Nation, but a director of the team. He refused to take off his Red Sox cap when Commissioner Bud Selig asked him to wear the hat of steroid sleuth in the spring of 2006.
Of course he wouldn't "take off his Red Sox cap." He had to reassure the Black Sox Nation that everything would be just fine, they had nothing to worry about. His priorities were obvious to all:
Black Sox Nation first.
Truth, justice, and the American Way? The future of our National Pastime? The soul of our great nation? The trust and faith of America's children in all that is good and pure? HIPAA regulations dealing with protecting the privacy of pitchers with pituitary problems? None of that was even on Mitchell's radar ...

Black Sox Scandal 2007 - Sign the Petition

"On Oct. 21, several hours before the Cleveland Indians were to play the Boston Red Sox in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, a media account identified Indians pitcher Paul Byrd as having purchased $25,000 of the illegal substance, Human Growth Hormone.
"The source of the leak had to be someone within the ongoing probe of Major League Baseball headed by former U.S. Senator George Mitchell. Mitchell is a member of the Boston Red Sox board of directors and a well-known, diehard Red Sox fan.
"That his probe would leak the name of a player who might be pitching against the Red Sox that day -- by far, the biggest game of the season -- suggests a calculated attempt to destroy the focus of the player and his team.
"Throughout the Mitchell probe, leaks about players from the Yankees, Indians, Giants and other MLB organizations repeatedly have occurred. Despite their rampant success, no Red Sox players have been identified.
"THIS IS A CANCER UPON THE GAME OF BASEBALL!
"Commissioner Selig should appoint an investigator to determine the source of the Mitchell Probe leaks. And if it is shown that Mitchell or one of his aides is the source, the Red Sox victory over the Indians -- and its American League East pennant -- should forever be noted WITH THE PRESENCE OF AN ASTERISK."
THE TIME HAS COME TO TAKE A STAND. WE CANNOT SIT BACK AND WATCH THE CORRUPTION CONTINUE.

We at Black Sox 2007 heartily endorse this effort. In fact, if anything, we believe this petition does not go far enough. We propose that the Red Sox be stripped of the American League East championship and the American League pennant and the Cleveland Indians go on the World Series to face the Colorado Rockies. Failing that, the Colorado Rockies should be declared World Series champions by forfeit.
This is our national pastime. This is America. We must do what is right.
